We are making major changes to the bike event this year. Our aim is to increase the scope of the event and make it more attractive to a broader spectrum of the riding community. Every 5 years or so you have to mix things up and we've done that in a big way. With 4 events to choose from, live music, camping and great food, this will be the best Tread Fest ever!

Our mission is simple: we strive to bring a high quality event to the Capitol District, bring the community together, and raise funds for the two organizations that work on our local trails. The Tread Fest is run by volunteers and all proceeds go back into the trails at Bond Brook and other surrounding trails. The Tread Fest is hosted by Augusta Trails and Central Maine NEMBA.
In our 5th year of hosting this event we are excited to turn the entire trail system over to the running community for the day! We are hoping for a turnout of 300 or more runners! This day we will be celebrating the final event and the championships for our 5k Summer Series, but will also be hosting a 5 mile race, and a relay race for those of you that want to put together a team!

EVERY EVENT HAS ITS OWN STORY

EVERY EVENT HAS ITS OWN STORY

OUR PAST

The Tread Fest has been a combined Bike and Run event for the past 5 years. We've outgrown that format, we've run out of parking for all the people, and we are feeling the pains of trying to fit too much into one day. It's been an amazing process to get where we are today and the future looks very bright. If you've participated in the past you don't want to miss out on the future.

THE PRESENT

We are hosting 2 separate events. On June 25 & 26 the bike community will take over Bond Brook and enjoy a number of different events that will hopefully appeal to a large audience of riders. On September 11 it's all about running! Each event will celebrate all things great about our respective sports, while focusing on the mission of having fun and raising money for the trails.

The Future

Our aim is to grow the event and raise funds each year to help sustain and grow our local trails. We hope to expand the trail network, and create an urban paradise of trails for all to enjoy..

CAMPING

For the first time ever we have been granted permission to allow camping at Tread Fest. We will have a limited number of spots available. We have 15 RV/Camper sites and 75 tent sites. Tenting will be on a first come first serve basis. Please reserve your campsite when you sign up on BikeReg. 1 tent and up to 4 people per campsite. No fires, as we will have a communal fire pit.

The Trails

Bond Brook Recreation area is a 270 acre preserve in the heart of Augusta, Maine. There are nordic trails and a network of singletrack trails that are intertwined throughout the property. The trails are built around a large hill in the middle of the preserve and thus the trails have lots of challenging climbs and fun descents.

Local Hotels

Not one for camping out? There are a host of affordable hotels within 1-2 miles of the venue. We are working on getting discounts on a block of rooms for Friday and Saturday nights. •Quality Inn & Suites •Motel 6 •Econo Lodge •Hampton Inn
